What Is Muse Image?
Muse Image is Meta's first image generation model from Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL), released on July 7, 2026. It generates and edits images inside the apps billions of people already use: the Meta AI app and site, Instagram Stories, and WhatsApp chats. Basic Muse Image generation is free; advanced creation features sit behind Meta's new subscription plans.
What makes Muse Image different is reasoning. It pairs with Muse Spark — the text-and-reasoning model MSL shipped in April 2026 — to think through your prompt, search the web when it helps, and plan the composition before a single pixel is generated. Meta's pitch: people get what they meant on the first try. Muse Image also introduces Instagram account mentions, letting you tag an account in a prompt so its photos become visual reference, and multi-photo blending that preserves each subject's likeness.
